Owerheating problem,HELP

I have a 2001 530i with 87k miles,2 days ago after i stoped the car i saw the temp goin toward the red and droping right to the middle very quick.
This happens only when i stop not when the ar is moving.
Could it be air in the system or a leak,i know its not the thermostat.

Your car is at the mileage that warrents you to change out the entire cooling system--rad--water pump--
thermostat--expansion tank--fan and clutch-- along with belts and hoses--don't delay in doing all the above
or you will be spending lots of money replacing a head gasket or maybe even a head.
Along with the above I would suggest that you change out the Vanos seals as well.
